19 GECHS students named to Duke Talent Search
Nineteen Galveston Early College High School students have qualified to participate in the highly-selective Duke University Talent Identification Program (Duke TIP) Talent Search that identifies academically gifted and talented youth.
These students scored at the 95th percentile or higher on a 6th grade TAKS subtest. As Talent Search qualifiers, they are invited to take the ACT or the SAT college entrance exam this winter, which allows them greater insight into their academic abilities.
Participants also gain valuable benefits and have access to unique resources for gifted students. Duke TIP's 7th Grade Talent Search is the largest program of its kind in the nation.
Since its inception in 1980, over 2 million students have participated in a Duke TIP Talent Search.
Congratulations to the GECHS qualifiers!
