GEFAward

The Galveston ISD Educational Foundation would like to thank Galveston Kiwanis for supporting it's mission of supporting local educational initiatives with a $5,000 donation. The GEF was one of two local non-profits elected by members for a one-time donation.

Galveston ISD Educational Foundation in the news:

Lessons go beyond art at Ball High ceramics studio - The GEF supported Colleen Moore's ceramic class with grants to purchase supplies. Read how this has affected the lives of students.

A new message at GISD Educational Foundation - Galveston County Daily News editor Heber Taylor recently wrote a story about the recent goals and acheivements set by the GEF.

Upcoming Dates

January 30th – Grant writing workshop for teachers

 

February 14th – Grant applications due

 

February 18th – February 22nd – grant committee reviews grants, and potentially does site-visits with each applicant

 

February 26th, 27th or 28th – Grant committee meets / reviews and decides on awardees

 

(March 4 – March 8 = GISD TESTING)

(March 11-March 15 = SPRING BREAK)

 

March 18th-21st – TENTATIVE grant award dates

The GISD Educational Foundation enriches the educational experience and prepares students for the future by providing financial support to students, educators and schools.
 

The GISD Educational Foundation

  • Is a 501 © 3 non-profit, tax exempt philanthropic organization independent of the GISD Schools but complementing it through partnership.
  • Shares a vision of enhancing education in the GISD Schools.
  • Works to increase private support for public education.
  • Benefits GISD students and staff by supporting activities not funded by tax dollars.
  • Encourages and recognizes creative approaches to education through grants and involvement.
  • Awards Foundation funds through a volunteer Board of Directors made up of business and community leaders.

  • Promote and enhance the quality and excellence of Galveston public schools.
  • Help students achieve their highest academic potential.
  • Recognize and celebrate student academic success.
  • Enhance teacher creativity and innovation by supporting unique growth opportunities, providing resources for creative teaching and recognizing teacher accomplishments.
Promote community partnerships. Inspire individuals, corporations and community groups to participate with the Foundation in enriching education through philanthropy.
