  • March 31 Update: Galveston ISD is joining other districts in the state by closing until May 4. All GISD campuses and facilities will be closed and all extracurricular activities and school events are canceled during this period.

Governor Abbott announced Tuesday, March 31, that all schools in Texas should close through April 30, with an anticipated re-opening on May 4, mirroring recommendations from the federal government, to further reduce the spread of COVID-19.

The health and safety of our students and staff is our first priority. We ask everyone in the Galveston ISD community to do your part to help prevent the spread of virus by adhering to local stay-at-home orders and taking everyday preventative actions to stop transmission.

Galveston ISD will continue its curbside meal service and at-home and digital learning throughout this closure.
