Dr. Keri Launius

Dr. Keri Launius is the Executive Director for Professional Learning and Staff Development for Galveston Independent School District. Prior to joining Galveston Independent School District, Dr. Launius’ experience has been PreK-16 as a campus principal, a district coordinator, and a college director/professor. She began her career as a high school teacher and spent close to a decade teaching in Texas high schools. Dr. Launius graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Arts in speech communication and a Master of Education in secondary education. She earned a Doctor of Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University and holds both superintendents certification, and principal certification from Stephen F. Austin State University. Away from the office, Dr. Launius enjoys taking part in community events. She is a member of the Galveston Kiwanis Club, and on the Young Life Galveston Board. Keri can be found many evenings and weekends cheering for youth sports. Together with her husband, John Launius, who coaches football at Baytown Sterling High School, she has three children, including one in the district.
