Ms. Kat Dispensa

English Teacher & Volleyball/Softball Assistant Coach

My name is Kat Dispensa, I was born and raised in Galveston, Texas. I attended O’Connell High School and graduated in 2008. I went on to play college softball at Hill College for two years. In 2014, I was inducted into the O’Connell Hall of Fame for softball. After hanging up my cleats, I decided to focus on my future and I enrolled at The University of Houston-Clear Lake to attain my teaching degree. I graduated from UHCL, with a Bachelor of Science and a major in interdisciplinary studies in 2014. I have been a part of GISD since 2014 and I started teaching at Ball High in 2016. I am part of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Community here at Ball High. Currently, I teach English I and English III to freshmen and juniors. I am certified in English Language Arts and Reading for grades 7-12. I am also a class sponsor for the Class of 2019. I work with the athletic department as an assistant volleyball and softball coach. I am proud to say that I was part of the volleyball staff in 2016 as our Lady Tors made playoffs for the first time in school history. I am currently working on a Master’s degree in Special Education from Lamar University.
