Mr. Mark Kelso
Social Studies Department Co-Chair
Hello, my name is Mark Kelso and I teach US History From 1877 to Present at Ball High School. I started teaching in 1999 and left in 2005 to pursue other career opportunities only to return to teaching 2013. Ball High is an outstanding place to work and to learn. In my class students learn how our ancestors overcame obstacles and hardships that molded and shaped these United States into the country we see today. I challenge students to contribute to their community through knowledge and encourage active parental involvement through district learning resources. My wife and I married in 2008 and lived in Delaware and Texas. We spend our spare time with our son Drew in our many outdoor adventures. I hold a B.S. in Maritime Administration from Texas A&M at Galveston and hold certificates in Social Studies Composite, History, and EC-12 Technology Applications. My first career focused on international shipping but after soul searching and weighing the important decided to return to teaching. In my spare time I research, ID, and work to repatriate American soldiers from WW2 buried as Unknowns in various cemeteries throughout the world.
