Hello! As the 8th grade social studies teacher at Collegiate Academy., my job is to help students connect the dots of US History. History is not just a series of names, dates, and places; instead, it is a puzzle where every piece of the past fits together to make the present and future. I certainly saw that play out time and again in my past careers, helping those in need at a nonprofit and working in politics and government. Toward those careers, I received my bachelor's in Political Science from Macalester College in Minnesota. Nevertheless, since moving back to Texas in 2014, I have thrown myself into education. Instead of changing policy through government, I work to cultivate and transform our students into the next generation of critical thinkers who can create a brighter future for the rest of us. Outside of work you can find me horseback riding, tinkering on projects in my new house, playing video games, reading, and devouring the latest news of the day. My family includes my lovely wife Jessica; an adorably clingy dog, Blue; and a strange yet endearing cat, Aria. Whether discussing my family, hobbies, past careers or teaching history, my efforts boil down to an intense passion for what I do. I work to share my passion for our collective past with our students, and I hope to produce in them a passion for our future in turn.
