Dr. Stephen Duncan

Director of Fine Arts for GISD (Teaching Music Theory I Pre AP at Ball High)

Dr. Duncan is a long time educator, world traveler, and a man who wears many hats as a professor, a teacher, an administrator and clergyman. He grew up in Lawton, Oklahoma graduating first with a 4.0 from MacArthur High School in 1980 He attended SWSU in Weatherford, Oklahoma receiving:
 BA Sacred Music 1983 summa cum laude
 BME Instrumental Education 1984 summa cum laude
 MM in Music Education 1987

 He studied with the Holy Cross Fathers (CSC) at Moreau Seminary at the University of Notre Dame. He served as Director of Sacred Music for the Catholic Diocese of Memphis as he worked on his doctorate at the University 
of Memphis receiving his DMA in Sacred Music 1991 

The dissertation is available as: A Genre of Hindusthani Music (Bhajans) as Used in the Roman Catholic Church 
His second academic book is also published by the Edwin Mellen Press A History of the Sacred Musical Life of An Orthodox Church in America
