GISD COVID-19 Protocol
Revised Aug. 11, 2022

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced updated COVID-19 guidelines and recommendations on Aug. 11, 2022. These updated guidelines have been incorporated into GISD’s COVID-19 Protocol. Please view our district’s updated procedures below:

Galveston ISD would like to remind all students, parents, and staff members to report positive COVID-19 tests through the online district reporting form found here.

If you do test positive, you are required to quarantine for 5 days. (Day 0 is the day symptoms began or the day of the positive test result for those who are asymptomatic.) You may end isolation after day 5 if your symptoms are improving and if you are fever-free for 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medication.) Quarantining is no longer recommended by the CDC for exposure.

Remember, all GISD students and staff members can take a COVID-19 test or get vaccinated at one of the Teen Health Center clinics free of charge. To schedule an appointment, call (409) 761-3530. Please do not use at-home tests.

Thank you for helping us continue to make the safety of our students and staff members a top priority in Galveston ISD. For more information, email covid@gisd.org.
