About AIM

AIM is a non-traditional high school that provides students the opportunity to accelerate their own learning.

We are a 7th – 12th grade campus with a variety of programs.  

Middle school students have opportunities to test and promote to the next grade level.

High school students attend face-to-face and self-paced courses.

District News

Optimist Speech Comp

Saturday March 23rd the Galveston Noon Optimist Club held its annual Oratorical Contest in the Ocean & Coastal Science Bldg. Texas A&M-Pelican Island Campus.

A TOR-RIF-FIC congratulations to Caroline Livanec and Karen Cuc who competed in their first HS Speech competition.

Robotisc US Open

GISD had teams from Oppe, Parker, and Ball High competing, sending a total of 4 teams. 

Ball High’s 400C team did the best that they have done in about seven years, scoring the 2nd highest skills score in their division.

State Swim and Dive

The state swimming and diving competitions were held in Austin, Saturday, February 24th . Ball High was represented in each competition. Tor Senior Kai Jankowiak advanced in swimming while Sophomore Sianna Acosta competed in diving, a great accomplishment for a tenth grader.

A partnership between Galveston ISD and Iconoclasts Artists, out of Houston, has had an amazing impact on GISD students’ lives as well as their test scores. Students at AIM College and Career Prep Academy meet weekly with Bill Moran from Iconoclast to explore themselves and their thoughts through poetry. 

Kate And Chloe

Ball High School Tor volleyball seniors Kate Lindamood and Chloe Stein were named to the AVCA Best and Brightest 1st Team for having a 4.3 weighted GPA or higher. They were 2 of only 700 athletes nationwide to receive this honor.

Michael Merritte

Thanks to Ball High School’s veteran speech teacher, Michael Merritte, Galveston ISD and Ball High were recently on display for the entire state at the 2023 Texas Speech Communication Association Convention.

Bay Area Houston

GISD has become a member of the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership. 

Brian Freedman, BAHEP president, welcomed GISD saying, “Education, in its many forms, is fundamental to the advancement of our community. We strongly support GISD’s CTE initiatives and welcome them to BAHEP.”

GOFM

Galveston’s Own Farmers Market’, with the support of a 2023 USDA Farm to school grant award, will further integrate YGP operations into the school day, expand “Eat Fresh” days to approximately 1,000 students at Morgan and Weis campuses, create curriculum with a focus on food sovereignty, and debut a community & district-wide art project.

GISD Teachers From Spain

Galveston ISD is welcoming a group of teachers from Spain. As part of the Texas Spain Visiting International Teachers program, these instructors are making a commitment of at least three years teaching as part of GISD’s Dual Language Program.

Families Invited to Back to School Event Aug. 4

GISD's Family Community Engagement (F.A.C.E.) Department and St. Vincent's House are excited to announce the Back to School Blast, a community event that will occur from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4, at the Wright Cuney Recreation Center in Galveston.
