Galveston ISD won Best in Category and a Gold Star Award for its 2020-2021 Calendar/Planner and four other Gold Star Awards in other categories from the Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) at its annual Star Awards.

The awards were announced in February, and the team recently received the certificates and hardware since they did not attend the live event due to COVID precautions.

In total, the communications & marketing team, Billy Rudolph, Lea Walker, and Kyle Bolen, received five Gold Stars and seven Silver Stars for publications, photos, videos and other projects from the 2019-2020 school year. They were up against all other Texas school districts that submitted there work in the under 10,000 enrollment division.

TSPRA’s annual Star Awards provide recognition for the outstanding education communications and projects of its members. Independent, impartial judges evaluate each work and project based on set criteria and they award Gold, Silver and Bronze Star Awards, as well as Best of Category.
