At the May 19 Board of Trustees Meeting, Galveston ISD named Stephanie Mendoza as the new principal of Austin Middle School.

"I am thrilled to begin this new chapter and cannot wait to work with all the parents, students, and staff," said Mendoza.

Mendoza will transition from her role as the director of BioMed/STEM Communities at Ball High School. Prior to her current role, she served as an assistant principal at Ball High, dean of instruction for La Marque High School, and a Ball High teacher and cheer coach.

She said her aspiration for this role is to continue to bring deeper learning and real-world experiences to all students.
