The Galveston ISD Communications & Marketing Department won 18 Star Awards at the Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) Conference. The awards recognize the best work done in Texas to promote the success of students and educators. 

The GISD team was recognized with the prestigious Crystal Award for outstanding staff and student recognition for its "E3 - Educate, Engage and Empower campaign". At the Star Awards presentation, Dyann Polzin, Chief Communications Officer, was presented the award by TSPRA President Veronica V. Sopher. The Crystal Award is sponsored by SchoolMessenger.

Monthly, a team member who epitomizes the GISD mission to "Educate, Engage, and Empower EACH student for a life of Excellence" is honored with an E3 Award. Nominees are submitted, and a district committee selects a winner.  

In total, the GISD team brought home nine Gold Star Awards , five Silver Star Awards, three Bronze Star Awards, and the Crystal Certificate of Merit award. Below are details of the awards:

TSPRA is dedicated to promoting public schools through effective communications. The Star Awards provide recognition for the outstanding education communications and projects of their members. Independent, impartial judges evaluate each work and project based on set criteria and they award Gold, Silver and Bronze Star Awards, as well as Best of Categories, Certificates of Merit, Crystal Commendations and the Platinum Award for an all-encompassing, year-long communications project.
