Galveston ISD is proud to announce March's E3 Employee of the Month, Melissa Morton, 2nd-grade teacher at Morgan Elementary School of Science and Engineering.
Morton has been teaching for twenty-two years, and although she took some time off, she soon realized that she truly missed the classroom.
In 2020, she joined L.A. Morgan as a full-time substitute, and after a couple of months, she was hired as a teacher.
" I love teaching and molding minds. My favorite part of being an educator is all the "aha" moments I get to see every day," says Morton. "Galveston ISD is a wonderful place to teach, and I plan to continue my teaching career at GISD for the years to come."
"Mrs. Morton always has a positive attitude and a smile. She builds strong relationships with her students and is willing to do whatever it takes to ensure student success. Mrs. Morton is also a team player and shares her knowledge and ideas. She is an asset to Morgan!, says Sara Giambelluca, Principal.
In her spare time, Melissa Morton enjoys spending time with her two sons, Aaron and Noah, and with her sweet granddaughter Mayvis. Morton has been an avid animal lover her entire life, and she is currently taking care of twelve animals, among them cats, dogs, a pig, and reptiles.
Below is the description of why Morton's nominator chose her for E3 Employee of the Month:
"She has truly given my daughter the attention she needs to succeed. She communicates with me quickly and has a great outlook on education. I wish all of my teachers were like her when I was in school.
