86 Galveston ISD Educators Awarded Salary Enhancements through the Teacher Incentive Allotment

GALVESTON, Texas - June 29, 2022 – Galveston Independent School District is proud to announce that 86 teachers recently received salary enhancements as part of an overall district payout of $1,192,185 to qualifying educators as part of the Teacher Incentive Allotment.

Created by the Texas Legislature as part of House Bill 3, the TIA program was established to assist in attracting and retaining highly effective teachers at traditionally hard-to-staff schools by providing salary increases for educators who prioritize teaching in high needs areas and rural district campuses.

The teachers receiving the allotments are designated as master, exemplary or recognized based on teacher observation and student growth data.

This year’s individual salary enhancement payout amounts ranged from $2,551.50 to $23,473, depending on the level of the educator’s designation and the socioeconomic level of the students they teach.

“Galveston ISD is so fortunate to have teachers who work hard to perfect their craft so that students soar academically,” Dr. Annette Scott said, GISD’s Assistant Superintendent for Student Support. “We celebrate the 86 teachers in GISD who earned designations through the Teacher Incentive Allotment. Thank you for a job well done. We look forward to more of our teachers earning this recognition in years to come.”

Galveston ISD is the only district in Galveston County currently participating in the TIA program.
