GISD's Family Community Engagement (F.A.C.E.) Department and St. Vincent's House are excited to announce the highly anticipated Back to School Blast, a community event aimed at providing essential supplies and resources to students as they prepare for the upcoming school year. The event will occur from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4, at the Wright Cuney Recreation Center in Galveston.
The Back to School Blast is a collaborative effort between many community partners deeply committed to supporting the education and well-being of local students. This event serves as a crucial opportunity for the community to come together and help ensure that every child has the necessary tools to succeed.
As part of the Back to School Blast, we are collecting the following items for school-aged students:
- School supplies (notebooks, pencils, pens, crayons, backpacks, etc.)
- Gift cards for school necessities
- New clothing suitable for school
- Tennis shoes and sandals
- Hygiene products
Donations can be dropped off at Weis Middle School (7100 Stewart Road), Room 1A-151 starting July 24 through Aug. 3, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon and 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. We kindly request the community's support in making generous contributions that will directly impact the lives of these students and their families.
Additionally, we invite community members to volunteer their time to help make the Back to School Blast a huge success. Volunteers will be essential in organizing activities, distributing supplies, and providing support throughout this event. Attendees can look forward to an engaging and vibrant atmosphere that celebrates education and fosters a sense of community.
