GALVESTON, Texas - June 17, 2021 - The Galveston ISD Board of Trustees voted to approve salary increases for teachers and all district employees. Teachers, which include librarians and nurses, will see a pay increase of $1,500 for the 2021-2022 school year, bringing the starting teacher salary to $55,000. All other district employees will receive a 2% pay increase based on the midpoint of each pay grade.
The salary increases will be effective for the 2021-2022 school year and the total cost to the district will amount to $1,272,401. “This board is dedicated to providing annual pay increases for our employees and once again they are stepping up to make sure that appreciation is shown,” remarks Assistant Superintendent of Business and Operations Connie Morgenroth. “This is a substantial dollar amount that especially highlights the importance of classroom teachers and their direct impact on our children.”
The new salary schedule was approved by the Galveston ISD Board of Trustees at its regular board meeting on Wednesday, June 16. The pay increases will go into effect beginning July 1, 2021.
