Kris Hennon, special education teacher at Galveston ISD's Crenshaw Environmental Science Magnet, was one of only six finalists in the region nominated for Region 4’s District Elementary Teacher of the Year award.
Hennon serves Pre-K through eighth-grade students in her role, and has more than 30 years of experience. She has dedicated her career to serving individuals with disabilities.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Special Education and Rehabilitation and a Master of Arts degree in Special Education and Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Arizona.
All finalists were highlighted during the 34th annual Teachers of the Year awards luncheon earlier this week at the Hilton Americas in downtown Houston. Hennon attended with the support of Crenshaw Principal, Tracie Camp.
"Kris Hennon is the epitome of a master teacher," Camp said. "She engages students, young and old, through love, humor, and by making sure they are always challenged. The Bulldogs are blessed by her devoted service and leadership."
Please join us in celebrating this outstanding educator. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to bringing excellence to the students of GISD!
