GALVESTON, Texas - May 25, 2021 - At the May 19 Board of Trustees Meeting, Galveston ISD announced Vikki Curry as its assistant superintendent for teaching and learning. Some of Curry’s responsibilities will include overseeing the development and delivery of curriculum and instruction, monitoring and evaluating instructional programs, and playing an active role in developing campus improvement plans. She will begin her new position on July 1.

“I believe that Galveston ISD has committed, energetic, and optimistic individuals who are invested in helping the students be the best they can be. That is something you don't find in a lot of school districts,” remarks Curry. “I feel that GISD is leading the pack with innovative instructional practices and the credit must go to the administrators, teachers, staff, students, families, and community members of the district. It is an honor to join Galveston Independent School District to work with such amazing leadership and phenomenal educators.” 

Curry has been an educator for 27 years. Most recently, with Coldspring-Oakhurst CISD as its assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction. Before that, she was a principal in Coldspring-Oakhurst CISD, an assistant principal in Spring ISD, and a teacher in Galveston ISD.
