School Hours: 8:15 AM -3:45 PM

  • Students are encouraged to arrive at school by 7:45 a.m. to prepare for the school day. Breakfast will be served from 7:45 a.m.-8:00 a.m.

    Early Pick up Policy:  Picking up students prior to regular dismissal time is extremely disruptive to the class and your child's education. No child can be checked out of school after 3:15 pm.  

    Cell phones/Electronic devices are allowed on campus, but must be turned completely OFF upon entering the building. Cell phones/ Electronic devices must remain OFF and not visible while in the building. If a cell phone/electronic device is picked up, a parent must pick up the phone/ electronic devices and pay a $15.00 fee.

    These devices may be used in the classroom for instructional purposes ONLY as directed by the teacher and must be turned off and not visible at the conclusion of classroom activity.

Dress Code

  • Pants: Must be khaki for all grade levels. NO JOGGERS. *Belts are required. 

    Polo style Shirts: 5th Grade: Dark Green   6th Grade: Red   7th Grade: Navy Blue   8th Grade: Black 

    *T-shirts are not permitted as replacements.  

    Sweaters: Must be SOLID COLOR and same color of their uniform shirts. Example: 8th grade wears a Black polo shirt, therefore the sweater must be Solid black. NO HOODIES.

    PE Uniform: Grey T-Shirt, Blue or Black knee length shorts & Closed toe sneakers.

    Backpacks: Must be see-through, clear or MESH only.

Transportation

  • Parents need to register their student for transportation every year. Please fill out the 2019-2019 Transportation Request Form and drop off to the Transportation Department. DEADLINE EXTENDED to August 10th to Request GISD Transportation! Forms will also be accepted at the Back to School Fair on August 9th.

  • Galveston ISD Announces New Athletic Director

    The District is excited to announce that Walter Fortune will join the Galveston ISD team as the New Athletic Director. The GISD Board of Trustees approved the hire of Fortune late Tuesday evening with a unanimous vote in his favor.

  • Three GISD Campuses Honored at the National Magnet Schools of America Conference

    The GISD Magnet team traveled to Baltimore, Maryland to attend the 2019 National Magnet Schools of America Conference. While attending the conference, Ball High Media Arts & Digital Technology Community and Oppe Elementary Magnet Campus of Coastal Studies were recognized as National Certified Magnet Schools and Collegiate Academy was recognized as one of 19 National Demonstration Schools.

  • The GISD Communications Team Brings Home 18 Awards from the Annual TSPRA Conference

    Galveston Independent School District’s communications team traveled to Bastrop, Texas to attend the 2019 annual conference of the Texas School Public Relations Association. The Galveston ISD communications team competes in the TSPRA “Star Awards Celebration” and attends multiple conference sessions to learn new skills and to enhance their public relations outreach. This year, the communications team came home with eighteen awards.
