GALVESTON, Texas - January 14, 2021 - The Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) has given Galveston ISD a rating of ‘A’ for ‘Superior Achievement’ regarding the quality of its financial management and reporting system.
This the 10th consecutive year that the school district has received this major recognition of the more than 1,200 Texas school districts and charters that are rated.
"We are always proud to announce our successes regarding fiscal responsibility in our efforts toward improving student outcomes," says Galveston ISD Superintendent Kelli Moulton, Ed.D. “This rating shows that our district is making the most of our taxpayers’ dollars and helps to instill confidence in the community that our trustees and staff are operating in the most ethical and responsible ways when managing those public funds."
The School FIRST accountability system was developed by the Texas Education Agency with the primary goal of achieving quality performance in the management of school districts’ resources throughout the state.
