Helpful Resources

Like many, the first news I heard this morning was about the school shooting in Santa Fe, Texas.  The crushing news brought about many emotions.  But my reaction can't possibly approach the depths of sadness of those directly affected by the shooting...families and friends of the victims.  On behalf of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston, our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been impacted.

This incident is so fresh, it's hard to know what to say or do to offer any comfort, or if that's even possible at the moment.  At the least, it's important to remember how traumatic a mass shooting event can be for youth. With this in mind, the following resources may prove helpful in discussing Friday's devastating violence with children and teenagers you may know.

This latest horrific incident is another reminder of our imperative to provide safe spaces for kids and teens in our communities throughout the Greater Houston Region.  As the effects of this tragic event unfold, we will continue to monitor the situation, especially in relation to our Club members and staff, and contribute our support in whatever way we can.
