Galveston ISD Statement Regarding Frontline Data Breach

Galveston ISD was recently notified that employee information maintained by Frontline Education—a third-party vendor used by our district for human resources functions—was involved in a data security incident.

It is important to emphasize that Galveston ISD’s internal systems and network were not hacked or compromised. This incident is part of a widespread, nationwide breach affecting Frontline Education, a vendor that serves thousands of school districts across the country. Countless school districts nationwide have recently begun receiving notifications and reporting similar impacts to their staff.

What We Know
On August 14, 2026, Frontline identified a security vulnerability in a third-party software product integrated into its platform, which permitted unauthorized access to a portion of Frontline's system. Frontline has reported that it promptly patched the vulnerability, engaged an independent cybersecurity firm, and notified federal law enforcement authorities.

Frontline has informed GISD that personal information connected to 1,942 current and former district employees was impacted. This information includes Social Security numbers, government IDs, home addresses, and email addresses. Frontline confirmed that they are not aware of any misuse of the impacted data to date.

What You Should Expect
  • Direct Notification: Frontline is notifying affected individuals directly via email and U.S. mail.
  • Complimentary Services: Impacted individuals will receive step-by-step information on how to enroll in two years of free credit monitoring and identity theft protection services through TransUnion.
  • Dedicated Support Line: Frontline has established a dedicated hotline for questions regarding this incident at 833-516-8792 (Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM CT).

Recommended Actions
We encourage all employees to remain vigilant regarding suspicious emails or potential phishing attempts, monitor personal financial accounts, and review guidance from the Federal Trade Commission at www.identitytheft.gov/databreach.

Galveston ISD will continue to actively communicate with Frontline Education and will share additional updates with employees as verified details become available.
