Dr. Annette Scott’s educational career spans over 40 years. She made her debut as an eighth grade language arts teacher in Wharton ISD. She continued as a teacher for 13 years teaching every level of high school English (freshmen – seniors).

Annette transitioned into administration serving as an Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Instruction in Victoria ISD. Her first principalship was at a gifted/talented magnet elementary school. She went on to become a high school principal within the district. She has had the pleasure of working in some capacity at every level of public education –elementary, middle school, high school and college.

Annette earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Sam Houston State University, her Master’s of Education from the University of Houston Victoria and her doctorate from Baylor University. Annette joined Galveston ISD in 2004.

She is a former board member of Magnet Schools of America representing the states of Arkansas, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. She is also the immediate past president of Magnet Schools of Texas, now Magnet Schools of the Mid-South.

As leader of the Student Support team, Dr. Scott is responsible for curriculum, instruction, assessment, professional learning, student interventions, instructional resources and special initiatives, school choice, grants, and federal programs.
