95 Galveston ISD Educators Awarded Salary Enhancements through TIA

GALVESTON, Texas - June 12, 2023 – Galveston Independent School District is proud to announce that 95 teachers will receive salary enhancements as part of an overall district payout of $1,400,164 to qualifying educators as part of the Teacher Incentive Allotment – an increase from 86 educators receiving the enhancements last year.

Created by the Texas Legislature as part of House Bill 3, the TIA program was established to assist in attracting and retaining highly effective teachers at traditionally hard-to-staff schools by providing salary increases for educators who prioritize teaching in high-needs areas and rural district campuses.

The teachers receiving the allotments are designated as master, exemplary or recognized based on teacher observation and student growth data.

This year’s individual salary enhancement payout amounts ranged from $4,515.30 to $23,473, depending on the level of the educator’s designation and the socioeconomic level of the students they teach.

“We commend our teachers for the outstanding work that they are doing with our students,” Dr. Annette Scott said, GISD’s Assistant Superintendent for Student Support. “GISD is fortunate to have so many talented educators. This year, the district celebrates 34 teachers earning a designation as Master teacher, 37 as Exemplary and 24 as Recognized. The teachers represent a broad spectrum from across the district in a variety of grade levels and content areas. We applaud the work that you have done, and we hope our numbers will increase in the future.”

Galveston ISD is the only fully approved district in Galveston County currently participating in the TIA program.
